Jerry Remy, known to New England as “Rem Dawg,” was traded to the Boston Red Sox in 1977. In his first season with the Sox, Remy was selected as an MLB All-Star as he batted .278 with 44 RBIs and 30 stolen bases in 148 games. Up until 1984, Remy served as the Red Sox second baseman and according to Bill James’ Historical Abstract, Remy was rated as the 100th greatest second baseman of all time. After retiring in 1986, Jerry made the move to broadcaster for NESN as the color commentator for all Red Sox broadcasts. Remy has won four (4) New England Emmy awards and was voted Massachusetts’ favorite sports announcer in 2004.
