Chris Herren upon entering Boston College, was featured in Sports Illustrated, hyping his possible success. Subsequently, after suffering an injury and failing several drug tests he was expelled from the team and college. Herren was transferred and played basketball for Fresno State until 1999. Herren then entered the NBA and played 70 games professionally from 1999 to 2001 as a member of the Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics. Herren struggled with substance use for much of his career and having completed intensive rehabilitation programs has been alcohol/drug-free since 2008. He founded and runs Herren Wellness.
