Former NHL Hockey Player

Dave Andreychuk began his storied professional hockey career after being selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the first round of the 1982 NHL draft.  After eleven successful seasons in Buffalo, he was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs.  Andreychuk’s most prolific NHL season followed his trade to Toronto.  In his first full season with the Maple Leafs, he compiled totals of 53 goals and 46 assists.  Despite his personal achievements, Andreychuk’s Maple Leafs fell in the Eastern Conference Finals in 1993 and 1994.

Following a three-year stint with the New Jersey Devils, and shorter stays with the Boston Bruins and Colorado Avalanche, Andreychuk signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2001 as a free agent.  He was made a captain in his second season in Tampa Bay, a season in which he led the team to the playoffs for the first time in seven years.  In 2003, in his 22nd year in the NHL Dave Andreychuk became a Stanley Cup Champion, leading the Lightning over the Calgary Flames in seven games.  He retired in 2006 as one of the NHL’s all-time leaders in games played, goals, and power-play goals.

Upon his retirement in 2007, Andreychuk founded The Dave Andreychuk Foundation, with branches in Ontario and Tampa Bay.  His foundation focuses on raising funds for charities that benefit children and families in need.  On February 4, 2011, the Tampa Bay Lightning named Andreychuk as their Vice President in charge of fans.  He and his wife Sue have three daughters, Taylor, Caci and Brooke and the family resides in East Amherst, New York.
