Brad Faxon

Brad Faxon was born on August 1, 1961 in Oceanport, New Jersey. Faxon was raised in Barrington, Rhode Island and attended Furman University. During his time at Furman University Faxon received a Bachelor’s degree for economics, was a two-time All-American, and won the Haskins Award for the most outstanding collegiate golfer in the United States. After Faxon left college he went pro in 1983.
Faxon’s 34-year PGA Tour career featured eight PGA Tour victories and two appearances for the USA in the Ryder Cup in 1995 and 1997. Faxon was known as the “Putting Stroke Whisperer” for his well-known reputation as arguably the best putter of his generation. Faxon led the PGA Tour in putting average in 1996, 1999, and 2000. In 2000 he set the single season record with only 1.704 putts/greens in regulation.
In 2010, Faxon began working as commentator for NBC’s golf coverage, establishing himself as both a well-informed and entertaining analyst. Faxon received the Jim Murray Award from the Golf Writers Association of America in 2012 for his quotability, cooperation, and accommodation with the media. Faxon made his FOX Sports debut in 2015 where he has served as an analyst for the network’s full slate of USGA championships.
Faxon also helps run the Billy Andrade/Brad Faxon Charities for Children, Inc. which has donated more than $19 million to children in the Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts area. Faxon also serves as the host for the CVS Caremark Charity Classic, Rhode Island’s largest charitable sporting event. In 2015 Faxon was honored as the 18th recipient of the Francis Ouimet Award for his lifelong contributions to golf.
