Byron Dafoe

Byron Dafoe is a former professional hockey goalie. He spent 12 seasons in the NHL playing for the Washington Capitals, Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins, and Atlanta Thrashers. Dafoe was selected in the 1989 draft by the Capitals and made his NHL debut in 1992. Dafoe’s best season was 1998-1999 with the Boston Bruins, where he earned a 1.99 goals against average with an impressive .926 save percentage. Dafoe announced his retirement from the NHL following the 2004-2005 NHL Lockout.

After announcing his retirement, Dafoe and other NHL players founded Athletes Against Autism, a nonprofit organization aimed to raise awareness and funds for autism research, treatment, and education. Dafoe’s son has autism and his son helped drive the Athletes Against Autism initiative. Dafoe resides in Kelowna, British Columbia with his two sons.
