Johnny Damon is a two-time World Series Champion and one of Major League Baseball’s most recognizable outfielders from his 18-year career. Born in Fort Riley, Kansas and raised in Orlando, Florida, Damon was a high school All-American and the Florida Gatorade Player of the Year before being drafted 35th overall by the Kansas City Royals in the 1993 MLB Draft.

Damon made his Major League debut in 1995 and went on to become a key contributor for several teams, including the Oakland A’s, Boston Red Sox, and New York Yankees. He played a pivotal role in breaking Boston’s 86-year championship drought with their historic 2004 World Series win and later, captured a second title with the Yankees in 2009. Known for his speed, consistent hitting, and charismatic personality, Damon retired with over 2,700 hits, 1,139 RBIs, and 408 stolen bases.

Since his retirement, Damon has remained active in charitable work. He served as honorary co-chairman of the Medical Center of Independence Benefit Golf Classic from 1996 through 2000.  He also served as a spokesperson for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  In addition, he has been nominated for national honors such as the Roberto Clemente Man of the Year award, for outstanding service to his team and community; and the Branch Rickey Award, which is given to the MLB player who best personifies "service above self.”
