David Givens
Former New England Patriot & Super Bowl Champion
Wide receiver, David Givens, was an integral part of the New England Patriots offense that won back-to-back Super Bowl titles in 2003 and 2004. He was drafted by the Patriots in the seventh round in 2002 and was eased into the their complicated offensive scheme. When the 2003 season rolled around Givens became one of Tom Brady’s favorite weapons, leading the team in touchdowns (6) and second in yards (541).
Givens continued his growth in 2004, where he totaled 56 receptions (22 more than 2003) for 874 yards. The same year, he surpassed Patriots great, Stanley Morgan, becoming the Patriots’ all-time postseason leader for touchdown receptions with five. Givens’ reliability made him Brady’s go to guy. In both Super Bowl victories Givens recorded a touchdown reception.
In Coach Belichick’s offensive scheme the ball was spread around and no one player was the focal point. However in the 2005 season, Givens once again led the Patriots with 59 receptions. That off-season, Givens signed a five-year deal with the Tennessee Titans.
Givens spent his college days at Notre Dame where he graduated with a degree from the College of Arts and Letters, with a major in design. When he is not playing football Givens enjoys woodworking, sculpting and painting. He has displayed his work in galleries in the Midwest. David has four brothers and sisters and he has recently made the move back to Boston. Currently, he serves as a studio analyst on NESN Daily where he shares his expert opinion on the Patriots and the NFL.
