Derek Sanderson, nicknamed "Turk" by his teammates, was among the most popular players in the NHL and a New England fan favorite. Known as an elite face-off man and one of the top penality killers in the game, Sanderson was an imperative member of the 1970 and 1972 Boston Bruins Stanley Cup winning teams. Sanderson retired in 1978 and wrote an autobiography, Crossing the Line: The Outrageous Story of a Hockey Original, in 2012. Sanderson currently resides in Massachusetts and has continued to be involved in various charities throughout New England.
