Joshua Onujiogu
Seattle Seahawks Rookie Linebacker
Signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2022 following the NFL draft, linebacker Joshua Onujiogu is looking forward to an exciting first season in the NFL. At 24 years of age, Joshua was raised in Wareham, Massachusetts where he went to Wareham High School before attending Framingham State University.
In high school, Onujiogu played many different positions, including defensive end, outside linebacker, and quarter back as his team only had 22 players. He also ran track his junior and senior years at Wareham High, setting the new school record for the 110-meter hurdles at 15.49. A two-time MASCAC Defensive Player of the Year, Onujiogu logged 13.5 sacks, 68 tackles and an interception in his last college season with the Framingham State Rams and led them to another appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament. 25 of the tackles he made in his fifth year were for a loss and he also forced two fumbles. Onujiogu also broke his own school record for sacks that he had first set during his sophomore year.
Onujiogu has been extremely motivated and hard-working on and off the field throughout his life. Onujiogu is the type of player who has a deep love for the sport which has driven him to work tirelessly to make his dreams come true, whether that was doing crossfit after his high school practices or making the most of an unfortunate situation with Covid-19 to further improve his athleticism and skills on the field. Onujiogu has always been a caring person, majoring in health and wellness in hopes of becoming a firefighter if the NFL did not work out for him. When asked in one interview what he would do if he won the lottery, he replied that he would make sure his parents and siblings were taken care and donate the rest, with the exception of using some money to put a water bubbler in his house full of his favorite type of juice.
