Mike Milbury

Massachusetts-born Mike Milbury had a remarkable 35-year hockey career as a player, coach, general manager, and analyst. He spent his entire playing career with the Boston Bruins, helping them reach back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals in 1977 and 1978. In 2006, he was inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame.
Milbury played collegiate hockey at Colgate University, where he was team captain before signing with the Bruins in 1974. After two seasons in the AHL, he joined the Bruins full-time in 1976, playing 12 seasons and serving as the NHL Players’ Association team representative.
Following his retirement, Milbury transitioned to coaching. Milbury was named head coach of the Boston Bruins, and guided them to a Presidents' Trophy and the Stanley Cup Final in 1990, earning himself the Executive of the Year recognition from Sporting News. He then served as Assistant GM of the Bruins before becoming Head Coach and later General Manager of the New York Islanders.
After his front-office career, Milbury became a prominent NHL analyst, working with NESN, NBC, and TSN. He spent 14 years as a lead commentator for NBC before retiring in 2021.
