Walz was an assistant coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning for three years, and now currently works as an analyst on Fox Sports North for the Minnesota Wild. He and his wife share 5 children together and he has been a volunteer coach for two of his children’s high school hockey teams in Minnesota.
