Amanda Pelkey
Olympic Gold Medalist | 2x World Cup Champion
Amanda Pelkey was the first ever player to sign with the Boston Pride in the NWHL. Pelkey started her hockey career in the Junior Women’s Hockey League playing for Team USA in the Women’s World U18 Championship. Winning gold medals at the age of 16, Amanda continued on to play for the University of Vermont Catamounts. During her time at UVM, Pelkey set single-season records in goals and points along with tying for two school records. She graduated Vermont as the all-time leader with 49 goals, 56 assists and 105 points. After graduating, Amanda was selected for the first NWHL All-Star Game in 2016. In that same season, she helped lead the Boston Pride to winning the Isobel Cup. Pelkey has won five gold medals and one silver. Most of her medals have come from IIHF World Women’s Championships, but, her most recent gold came from the 2018 Winter Olympics held in PyeongChang, South Korea.
In 2023, Pelkey married two-time Olympic ice-hockey medalist Venla Hovi and they welcomed their first child together in October of 2024. Currently, Pelkey plays for the Boston Fleet in the PWHL’s inagural season.
