Bill O’Brien, a native of Andover, MA, is a seasoned football coach with nearly 30 years of experience at the collegiate and professional levels. Since 2024, he has served as the Head Coach at Boston College, bringing resilience, innovation, and leadership to the program.

A three-year player at Brown University, O’Brien began coaching as the team’s Tight End Coach in 1993. He rose through the collegiate ranks before joining the New England Patriots in 2007, where he helped craft one of the NFL’s most explosive offenses, culminating in a 16-0 season. As Offensive Coordinator in 2011, he guided the Patriots to three playoff berths, an AFC title, and a Super Bowl appearance.

In 2012, O’Brien revitalized Penn State amidst scandal, leading the team to a 15-9 record over two seasons. From 2014 to 2020, he coached the Houston Texans, earning four playoff berths and two trips to the AFC Divisional Round, while briefly serving as general manager.

Returning to college football in 2021, O’Brien mentored Heisman winner Bryce Young as Alabama’s Offensive Coordinator, contributing to a national championship appearance and a Sugar Bowl victory. In 2023, he reunited with the Patriots as Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach, maintaining their offensive excellence.
