Tully Banta Cain
New England Patriots Linebacker
Tully Banta-Cain was a linebacker for the New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers. Tully attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he totaled 26.5 sacks, was named to the All-Pac 10 Defensive First Team as a senior, and holds Cal’s single game sack record with 4.5 sacks vs New Mexico State. In his senior year, he was voted the Defensive Most Valuable Player, finishing with 39 tackles, 13 sacks, and 22 tackles for loss. Selected in the 7th round of the 2003 NFL draft by the New England Patriots, Tully played in 54 games over four seasons in New England. After the 2006 season, Tully signed a multi-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers where he spent two seasons before being released and re-signing with the Patriots in 2009. In his return season to New England, Tully posted his best season yet by recording 55 tackles and a career high 10 sacks.
After his career concluded, Tully joined the NFL Player Choir which is a group of former/ current NFL players that focus on singing uplifting songs for major events. He and the choir recently appeared on America’s Got Talent in which they advanced to the second round of competition. Tully has also recently developed a new football league called the Beach Football League that will debut in February 2024.
